Timber Treatment Technical Information
John Brash & Company Ltd operates two different types of timber treatments, both of which are sourced from Osmose who are the UK timber industry's leading supplier of wood preservatives.
(1) Osmose Naturewood
All sections of sawn softwood and roofing battens up to 47mm x 50mm are treated
using a preservative system known as Osmose Naturewood. The preservative system
is based on copper and an organic co-biocide (alkaline copper quaternary) and
is in line with BS 8417:2003.
Osmose have designed a special preservation cycle for John Brash preserved battens that will provide handling and transportation benefits. John Brash battens that are treated with Osmose Naturewood are over 30% lighter than battens preserved with chromated copper arsenate (CCA).
(2) Osmose Lifewood (CCP)
This process is a water based high pressure process. It is a copper based preservative and is used to treat John Brash Cedar shingles and shakes, and allows a 40 year guarantee against wood rotting fungi and insect attack to be awarded. Osmose Lifewood is in line with BS 8417:2003.
