Completion Date:                     July 2010

Project Information:

Western Red Cedar cladding has been supplied to the Rock in Bury, a Ł350m mixed use residential and retail development.  The project is one of the largest Western Red Cedar projects ever commissioned in the UK, requiring over 4,000 sq metres of material.

The boards were used to create a rear-ventilated rainscreen cladding system on all facades of what will become the new Debenhams store. Block ‘B’, which is a mix of residential and retail units also benefited from John Brash Western Red Cedar cladding.

John Brash supplied the Western Red Cedar with Class ‘O’ fire retardant treatment.

Cladding for the Debenhams store was supplied in a 32mm board thickness, which were fixed vertically to 600mm wide x 3m high rear-ventilated cladding modules by Longworth Building Services Ltd.

32mm thickness boards were required because the architects had specified a mechanical secret fix system for fastening the Western Red Cedar to the 600mm x 3m modules used on the Debenhams building. Secret fix systems require a thicker board for drilling the anchor hole in the rear of each board. A face fix system was used on Block D.
