Project Information:
John Ferneley High School, the new Ł12million college in the picturesque market
town of Melton Mowbray, has used John Brash’s innovative JB Antislip Plus decking
to create a safe, slip resistant surface for pupils. JB Antislip Plus was specified
by the architectural firm White Design Sustainable Architecture due to its robustness
and slip resistant qualities, which will improve health and safety levels as well
as enhancing the attractiveness of the school’s landscaped areas. The JB Antislip
Plus timber decking was installed on two teaching terraces and on a platform that
borders the green roof. The 800-pupil development replaces the existing school
and is an exemplar of sustainable design and construction. It features a Sedum
roof on the first floor, as well as incorporating structurally insulated panel
(SIP) technology on the walls.
